Persuasion

Any Jane Austen's fans in the house? I have a confession: i am a huge Jane Austen nerd. I have read Pride & Prejudice, have seen the movie oh about 100 times (*shoots self)...oh so shameful. Anyways, I have recently discovered Persuasion, the lesser known last-completed novel of the famous British author. And it is so good. So good. It's darker, more mature and resonates very vividly in today's society (as with every Jane Austen novels that are still very relevant today.) I can relate to Anne Elliott (well apart from the fact that she is poised under pressure and solf-spoken and level-headed!?!) so much. To lose the chance of being with someone, only to be reunited with the man you love knowing you can't be with him and that he is set to marry someone else is to me very haunting and heartbreaking and beautiful. The BBC did a lovely version in 2008 (forget all the dizzy camera work), a little on the B-side but with great and honest performances. If your a big pile of mush like i am, ch-ch-ch-check it out! xox
