Hyperballad

I find myself in a Bjork kinda mood this am. One of my favorite songs ever.

Pa-Pa-Power

I have had a crush on Ryan Gosling even since he played in Young Hercules back in like 1998. Then I saw him on Breaker High. And then I saw him in the Notebook. Not only do I heart his talent as an actor, his good looks and personal style, but as it turns out, I actually heart his music too (Dead Man's Bones). It's orchestral and a little obscure. Some of his detractors say his music and imagery are a little weird. Good enough for me. Enjoy the Gosling eye candy below. And if you got 12 + minutes to spare, which you should, take a look at their new vid for Pa-Pa-Power, after the break. Amazeball.

P.S. Please excuse my raunchiness, but am I the only one who's noticed that Gosling always seems really tight in the crotch area? Just sayin...

New Addiction

Swoon.

Dying for this dress!

Anyone who knows me, knows how I fit into the stereotype of the typical quétaine Québécois on one aspect: my love for Florida. I said it: I heart the sunshine state. I do. I have had the chance to go many times (thanks to my bff Dom who's family is a regular fixture on the shores of Daytona Beach). And I don't know what it is but I feel like I'm untouchable there. It feels like home. I go to Publix to buy my chocolate-dark cherry ice cream in a yellow carton, I go to ABC for wine, I go to Volusia Mall for the best pretzels in the world, I go to Inlet Harbour for the freshest seafood and rendition of Sweet Home Alabama, I love it. Hence, why I am addicted to The Glades on A & E. It's set in Florida. It highlights places I know. It's sunny. The actors are tanned. The lead is really easy on the eyes. His love interest has a nice Florida-easy-laid back style. What's not to love?

Vintage Loveliness

Good morning lover friends! Hope your week-end was eventful and full of sunshine. Did not do my DYI project BUT did make another project happen (more on that later). Yeah me! Did go to Nascar with my daddy. Got pretty bored, pretty quickly. But last night to brighten my week-end, got a lovely dose of Emmys fashion. Kudos to Kelly Russell for this lovely vintage gown for Decades. I'm in love with her whole look. This is how I would dress: no frou frous, no tulle, no fishtail gown, nothing too ornate or complicated. Just a simple, comfortable piece of pink chiffon dress. Lovely.

Charmed, I'm sure

Image via Lake Jane

I've been harboring this project, inspired by Lake Jane. Buy a vintage frame. Paint it. Hang it. Billboard it with vintage Florida postcards. Found a couple on my new addiction: Etsy. Maybe this weekend. After my Nascar date with my daddy.

I'm a loser baby

Am I a loser? This question has been haunting me since last night. Ever since a friend of mine called to ask me how I was and what I was up to and I had nothing to say. Nada. Ziltch. I mean, things are up with me. I work. I write this blog. I was taking theatre classes (I am on hiatus until October). I am entertaining the thought of taking photography classes. I see my friends. I used to train (more on that later). Or in the event that I stay at home, I relax and take some me-time. Is there something wrong with that? Does staying at home on a Thursday night make me a sore loser? Does being single make me a loser? It is true that I may not be the most socially out-there person in the world but is being somewhat of a loner yet another term for loser? So as I wandered in the land of other geeks or dorks, I thought of a few in cinematic history that have inspired me.

1. Billy Cudrup in Dedication. Amazing indie movie that probably me and someone else at Sundance saw. Cudrup (swoon) plays Henri a fucked-up children's books writer who's whole life turns even more upside down the day his faithful cartoonist partner dies. Hint: he gets the girl in the end (the always gorgeous Mandy Moore).
2. Napoleon Dynamite. Need I say more?
3. John Nash (aka Rusell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind). Forget the fact that he started to drool on people. This guy is a math genius!
4. Little Miss Sunshine. Abigail Breslin as Olive. Love, love, love this movie. We are all losers together.
5. Arrested Development. Oh c'mon.

So I'm I a loser? Maybe. Yes, a little bit. So what?
