Life's a beach

I want that sweater and a beach.

Lovers

Or the love for a vintage Harlequin novel cover. xo

Honey, we're sinking

Image via A Cup of Jo

I haven't posted in a while. Mainly because I haven't been inspired. And I was looking for inspiring things because I felt like I NEEDED to be inspired. I didn't want to appear fluffy and I was even questioning my interests. But I've been figuring that it's ok for me to like art and fashion. I am not fluffy, I have substance. Y'know the earth's axis has shifted with Japan's earthquake. Kind of a eye opener, really.
So, please forgive me for this long-winded explanation but these are things I would like to share with you. A home to my favorite things. I appreciate if you like it and if you don't, that's quite alright too.

This print was made by blackening words from a newspaper clipping about the famous sinking's Broadway show. Tragically beautiful. xo

Le paradis

Tomorrow I am going to Florida. It's nothing exciting, it's nothing exotic but...it will do the trick. I need to take a break. And if I can stay on the beach, get a bit of sun, smell the sea breeze and eat seafood, then, I will be happy. Have a happy valentine's day. xo

Beauty and the Beast

In my dreams, the beast give me this: a whole room to myself with a giant library and a ladder. :)

Blue moon and deities

Loving the work of artist Louise Despont who creates her artwork with graphite and color pencils on antique ledger book pages.

For all of you, grown kids, who need a picker uper, please take a moment to read Dallas Clayton's incredible book An Awesome Book. xo

Mix

Images via Just Jared

Loving Demi Moore's odd mix of plaid and flowers. And colors. Very daring but she nails it. Perfect casual outfit.

Minimal

Images via Yosigo

Loving the work of Spanish minimalist photographer Yosigo. The composition, the vintage feel...the pictures almost look constructed, don't you think?

One day I will meet my Eugene Fitzherbert. xo

The girl I will never be

You know this girl? The girl who is always perfect? The girl who has it all? That will never be me. I will never be this girl who looks stunning under any circumstances. That girl who is always so polished and dresses appropriately. That girl, who has perfect hair, the perfect friends. That girl who is the life of any party and who is as successful in her career as she is in relationships. The girl everyone wants to be. I am the girl who rarely looks stunning. I am the girl who is always disheveled, who has a sailor mouth and who is rarely appropriate. I am not the girl who is skinny and has zero cellulite. In fact, I am the girl who, by default, will always be a little bit chubby. I have very few friend and I would rather stay home and watch Dog the Bounty Hunter than hang out with fake people who pretend to be my friend and won't remember me the next day. And maybe this is unattractive. And maybe this is not what society wants. But I have tried being the perfect girl and I ain't got the energy to spend hours prepping up in the morning, to be politically correct all the time, to be dressed like I am a millionaire nor to be seen at all the cool spots. I am not this girl. And I will never be.

The Dive

A friend introduced me to this a couple of weeks ago. I thought about it tonight again and I am amazed at everything in this vid, from the camera work to the diver himself (world renowned freediver Guillaume Nery). This was shot at Dean's Blue Hole, in the Bahamas, the world's deepest known blue hole. How liberating must this dive be?

Needy seems to be the hardest word

Have you ever had days where...you were needy? You were missing attention and therefore, bugging everyone around you for some social interaction? Today is a day like that for me. I feel...unstable. I feel like I need to be hugged and kissed and I don't really know why. Being very proud, I feel...sheepish. Am I the only one who has ever felt that way? Sometimes, I think like uber-cool women, like my idol Vanessa Paradis above, never feel needy. They're always so calm, composed and in control. But I'm not. Some days, inexplicably, the though, independent girl decides to take a break and in goes the insecure, needy and quite truthfully, unbearable girl. So to any one who has to suffer from this mood, I do apologize. It has nothing to do with you and no, I am not a stalker nor am I Zsa Zsa Gabor. Ok. Time to put my 4-year old insecure self to rest.

The ugly truth

I had a really interesting discussion with a coworker yesterday who, to protect his identity, shall therefore be named Julio Iglesias. Anywho, J.I. was telling me about this older girl he had met who had told him that she was looking for a steady relationship. And I could tell that he had been spooked. Big time. And I understand that from a man's perspective, that can be...a deal breaker. And every self-help book will tell you that telling a man you have just met that you want kids and a white picket fence will have the same consequences as Hiroshima. But the thing is that if a woman tells you this, it doesn't mean she wants a relationship with YOU (although maybe I concede some may want that-but not ALL). It simply tells you that there is a certain level of bullshit that she will not tolerate. It simply says that she doesn't want to be dry-humped in a dark corner or be fondled in the backseat of your car. Or maybe she does but ultimately, this is not what she is looking for. So gents, please. If a girl tells you this, please don't freak out (unless she is pulling a Carrie on you, then yes, do run). Have sexual intercourse, be happy, and don't think that this girl wants you to be her baby daddy. She is maybe just looking for some stability. And maybe she's fed up of the games. But this doesn't mean that she will settle for the guy she just met -aka you. And I'm pretty sure the same goes for you. Or maybe, she's just really cool and honest and doesn't want to lead you on. Wants to tell you that you + her is just going to be for fun, because that's all she thinks you can offer. Just a thought.

A girl can dream

I don't know if I'm ever going to get married. I don't even know if I'm going to be lucky enough to meet someone who wants to hang out for a little while. But I couldn't help but swoon over these rings. They are antiques, from early 1900's and they are amazing. What a special piece of jewellery to own. Maybe one day? Hey, a girl can dream.

We ride

Seeing all the greats (Katherine Hepburn, Eartha Kitt, Sean Connery, Sophie Loren and BB) ride their bikes makes me want to do the same. Oh summer, where are you?

Wild America

I am a big fan of Planet Blue boutique in Hollywood. They have their own house brand named Blue Life which sums up perfectly, what I imagine life in California to be. This preview of ss11 has an americana feel that I love. Just perfect.

The idea that you can get everything you want in one person is destructive. And maybe when you accept that the number is closer to 50 or 60 or 70 percent, that's when you can start to make some progress in choosing the right person.

Emma Stone, I want to steal your dress! Considered a fashion faux pas, mixing silver and gold? I think not! This dress reminds me of one of my all-time favorite:  Kate Hudson silver lame dress by Roberto Cavalli. Love it and looking so pretty! Jealous. xo

Give into me

I just saw Country Strong tonight. Though not the greatest storyline, I really did enjoy the performances by Gwyneth and Garrett Hedlund. And though the love story between Leighton Meister's character and Garrett Hedlund's character is only slightly believable this song is sweet. Makes me want to fall in love. xo

Sail away

Image via Aubrey Road

My lovelies. How are you? My mind has been so buried in work that I haven't had any time to post or to even think about it. I feel so uninspired and stressed...grrrr...I hate this feeling. Boo winter too, this weather is making me mucho depressed. Anyways, I saw this picture of Kate Moss and more than ever I want a tattoo. How cute is this anchor? I feel like I need one right now. xo
