Gauguin

I can credit my love and fascination with Polynesia to Symbolist painter and sculptor Paul Gauguin. In 1891, Gauguin escaped France and sailed to French Polynesia where he wrote a book Noa Noa and painted extensively the beauty of the local inabitants. However controversial Gauguin's work or relationship with his subjects might have been, his painting remain some of the finest of this period, a true hommage to a foreign and exotic culture. The colors, the subjects are vibrant and truly stunning. I might never be able to afford a real Gauguin but i'd very much like to have one of his painting hung in my future abode one day. And of course, visit Tahiti. That would be a dream. xox
