Shame

Nothing shameful here, Michael Fassbender for GQ via Just Jared
Shame. A powerful and destructive emotion. A hell of a film. Shame by Steve McQueen is visually breathtaking and explores the effects of sexual addiction in a raw yet tasteful way. It runs a little bit on the long side but it's worth the watch. Michael Fassbender is superb in it. Worthy of an Oscar nom, in my opinion. We live in an hypersexualised society. And it can be liberating but it can also cheapen the act of sex. I've never been good at one-night stands. I find it hard (even though i don't judge) to understand how someone can use sex as a weapon, as a frivolous act, comparable to renting a movie or ordering a drink. Fassbender's Brendon does that. Effortlessly. Sex is just that. He gets his release and the women get riden like horses. And that's that. Very haunting stuff. I encourage you to watch it. xox
