The man who rode NY

Do you know who Bill Cunningham is? I must admit that a few years ago, I had no idea. But if you follow fashion even remotely, you will hear his name pop up from time to time. Upon further inspection, you will discover he is the pioneer of street photography, a true icon who, at the age of 80, still cycles through the streets of NY in the search of the perfect outfit or trends. I watched his touching documentary last week and I am in awe of this man. 80 freaking years old and no desire to stop. There is such a humble quality about him (he won't even accept a glass of water at any of the events he attends for fear that it may compromise his objectivity), such a frugal aspect to his life (he was one of the last tennant of Carnegie Hall) that you can but come to the conclusion that they don't make artists like that anymore. But his legacy will live on for, as he so sweetly puts it: "It's as true today as it ever was; he who seeks beauty, will find it." xox
