Sun dancer
In exactly a month, i will be under the Florida sun, feeling the ocean breeze on my face and the sand between my feet. Can we fast forward March already? xox
Vintage Loves
Love from yesteryear to inspire us today. How powerful are these photographs! Oh to be swept off your feet, to feel the butterflies...there's no better feeling. xox
I feel it all
Forever a favorite. Absolutely love Canadian-artist Feist. This song still makes me want to run in a field with fireworks. Happiness. xox

"Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags,
I've come to know that memories
Were the best things you ever had
The summer shone beat down on bony backs
So far from home where the ocean stood
Down dust and pine cone tracks
We slept like dogs down by the fire side
Awoke to the fog where all around us
The bloom of summertime
We stood
Steady as the stars in the woods
So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang
Just to bless the morning." Ben Howard, Old Pine

Paris, je t'aime
How well do we know the one we love? What happens when two lovers are thrown into the unfamiliar? This is what the brilliant 2 days in Paris attempts to answer. In true Julie Delpy fashion, there is a lot of talking in this neurotic and cerebral movie. Marion and Jack have been together for 2 years living in their beloved NY. Life is good. But when, on their way back to the Big Apple, they stop in her native Paris, their relationship is confronted with language-barrier, eccentric family members, jealousy, ex-lovers and tempers flaring. Will they survive? If you're a Francophile or understand French (as a lot of the dialogues are in French with no subtitles), I urge you to watch it. It goes a little on the long side but it's charming and real. À voir! xox
This time
Took a few days off from blogging to regroup this week. February and its dreariness really threw me off balance. And so, I needed to be by myself, sleep, watch senseless TV, knit and just relax. I needed that. And there's absolutely no shame in it. Oft, we push ourselves, we tell ourselves: c'mon you lazy bum, go! But being perpetually on the go doesn't afford some -much needed- reflection time. Thus, I urge you to reflect. Take a few minutes, days, weeks, to do things for you. To indulge in your own company and listen to your heart, mind and body. Do it. xox

"I worked with Paul on the movie Twilight (1998). When Joanne Woodward came on set, he put his arm around my shoulder and said to me, ' will you look at the ass on her?' That really struck me as an ideal relationship. I love the idea that a guy approaching 80 still loved his wife's ass." Liev Schreiber

Trends
Adore this. Everyone (it seems) is sporting some kind of floppy 70's hat and mirrored lenses these days. Both trends look amazing on others but kind of scare me. I tend to be more conservative in my fashion choices but i think it might be time to shake things up a little. You with me? xox

Age-less
Helen Mirren is one of my heroes (I might or might not have mentioned here). I am in absolute awe of this stunning woman who dares to define age, conventions and time. Not only is she a total babe but she also isn't afraid to think outside of the box, to throw away the established norms and well-metaphorically show the middle finger to those who think that aging means wearing printed sweatshirts and letting yourself go. I adored her leopard and leather moment a few years back but this? This is absolutely amazing. Pink hair at 67? Why the hell not. xox
The Formula
Do you know about The Formula? It's much like Into the Gloss but a little less flashy. The website is understated and features interviews with taste makers, musicians, models and a just all around cool people about their beauty routines. I'm always curious as to what people do to get ready in the morning. Partly because i tend to run out of ideas and use the same beauty products over and over again and partly because well...it's fun to see what other people's definition of beauty is. Check it out!
P.S. How gorgeous are VS model Lindsay Ellington's tiny dainty rings? Absolute love. xox

Like whoa
On this lazy Friday (wearing an extra-large shirt and leggings), this is what I would like to look like. The makeup, the jewels, the hair...everything! Too good. xox

"For if every true love affair can feel like a journey to a foreign country, where you can’t quite speak the language, and you don’t know where you’re going, and you’re pulled ever deeper into the inviting darkness, every trip to a foreign country can be a love affair, where you’re left puzzling over who you are and whom you’ve fallen in love with… all good trips are, like love, about being carried out of yourself and deposited in the midst of terror and wonder. " Pico Ayer
Welcome to my world
... i'll bake you cupcakes! Those exact words were exchanged during my therapy session today. I was talking about how boring I felt my life was. I can't attract a man, i thought, if all I want to do with my time is lay in bed, bake cupcakes and knit (also called a Canadian hibernation)! Well, my therapist said: "it looks like you want to take time for yourself. Relax. Do the things you need and love. And what's wrong with that? Besides, many men want that!" And of course, as most therapists are (very frustratingly so at times) he's right. Shit, I (we) are allowed to do things for ourselves once in awhile. Things that might not fit into our idea of what our life ought to be. But things that are good to us nonetheless. So...as Valentine's Day comes knocking again, I say, let's love ourselves. Let's bake this and be happy. Now, tomorrow, always. xox
